Forecast: A trough of low-pressure entering California will bring strong upper divergence (lift) over the state of Utah today. High-based thunderstorms will rapidly develop as daytime heating takes hold. These thunderstorms will be capable of hail, but the main concern would be the inverted-V profiles on forecast soundings showing that microburst potential will be there for wind gusts over 50 mph or higher, even right on through the 65-mph mark that would be severe in nature.
