Hurricane Erick’s Influence Will Bring Thunderstorms and Flooding to New Mexico Week of June 23, 2025

National Weather Force is monitoring Major Hurricane Erick, set to hit Western Mexico at the end of this week.  This system will weaken, however the moisture from the outflow bands will move across Western Mexico, igniting thunderstorms along the mountain chain.  These storms will gradually bring outflow boundaries to the northwest, toward the Arizona and New Mexico zones for the week of June 23, 2025.

An upper level low approaching the Pacific Northwest will dig southward, eventually bringing a southwest to northeast flow across Baja, Mexico and Arizona, which will shove the moiisture directly into New Mexico, where severe thunderstorms and flooding will be likely during this pattern.  National Weather Force will continue to monitor this, but it will be a swift kick in the start of the 2025 Monsoon Season.
