Severe Weather and Tornado Setup For The Evening and Night of June 27, 2025; Dakotas On Target

National Weather Force’s Northern Plains Weather Force sector is monitoring an upper-level low coming out of the Pacific Northwest for Friday, June 26, 2025.  This system is similar in zonal-flow and upper divergence (lift) to one earlier this month across North Dakota.

At the current time, many sources are not looking at this as a strong tornado event.  However, given the zonal flow pattern, with strong instability and lift, we will be seeing the chance of discrete supercells that will bring the good chance of damaging winds, large hail, and large and extremely dangerous tornadoes.

National Weather Force will continue to monitor this setup, which again is slated for the Dakotas, but centering South-Central North Dakota on the evening and night of Friday, June 27th, 2025
