Severe Thunderstorms to Move Across the Florida Panhandle for Friday, January 12, 2024

by

National Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Florida Panhandle, effective Friday, January 12, 2024, between the hours of 11am and 7pm eastern time.

Discussion:  A storm system moving out of the Deep South will continue eastward tonight.  As Friday morning hits, onshore flow ahead of the front will move across the watch area.  Given what the area is known for, backing southeast flow with the coast will bring about a waterspout scenario, with these waterspouts landfalling as tornadoes, with continued circulation inland as well.

In addition to the waterspout and tornado window, large hail and damaging winds are also in the cards.
