Forecast: Southeasterly backing flow at the surface is highly evident this morning, leading into the noon hour. This means a surface low is strengthening across Northern Texas, around the Childress area. As the evening hours come along, meaning around 5pm or so, thunderstorms will form from north to south across the Dallas area’s longitude.
These will form in a high instability/shear environment and be capable of producing supercells capable of tornadoes. With this, these will merge into a severe storm line with embedded tornadoes as they move eastward toward the Shreveport, LA area tonight.
In addition to the tornado threat, large hail / damaging winds are also likely in and around the above watch area …
