National Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective this afternoon through this evening for West Central and Central Oregon and the California zone of Alturas.
Discussion: A late spring upper-level low system will move into the area in the next few hours, call it 12:00pm local time on April 13, 2024. This system will have enough instability and lift within the upper divergent zone to produce thunderstorms, capable of hail, wind, heavy rain, and of course lightning within and around the watch area. There will be enough dynamics to produce an isolated supercell capable of a tornado.
